Welcoming Dan Froehlich

Dan joined the Cadence team in late March in the role of Vice President of Construction Management. We’re thrilled to have him on board and introduce him to our extended network of brokers, contractors, and clients.

CROSS-COMMUNICATING TO GET THE PROJECT DONE

As Vice President of Construction Management, Dan helps manage projects from a construction standpoint. Cadence has four to five projects underway at any given time, and there are so many moving parts to each one. Dan is involved in basically all of it. With each build, he brings it all together in a way that’s within budget and on time for client satisfaction.

In his day-to-day work, he’s in close contact with the development team (a.k.a the deal team) about potential projects in the pipeline. On projects underway, he works closely with accounting to make sure everything’s getting paid on time. Then there’s the legal team, with whom he collaborates on contract documents. You’ll also find him in the field. Especially when construction starts, he spends time on-site to meet with contractors and help them with any issues.

One thing Dan loves about his role is seeing entire builds progress “from soup to nuts” as leveled plots transform into completed developments. “You really see the fruits of your work,” he observes.

WHY CADENCE

Dan is a civil engineer per his degree, beginning his career with a design firm in civil engineering and environmental engineering. From there, he wanted to get more into the field and on-site with general contracting, where he’s spent the past six years implementing a vast range of projects. From these two roles, he brings both engineering and ground-level buildout management experience to the table at Cadence.

This particular job opportunity struck Dan as a great match, allowing him to leverage all parts of his background. “Seeing what they were looking for and what they need, it felt like a perfect fit with what I’ve done.”

Of course, the “people” factor was just as strong. “I’ve loved getting to know each and every person,” says Dan. “The senior staff has incredibly intelligent people to learn from as mentor figures, and everyone wants to help each other out. The longstanding relationships they have with clients says everything.”

FINALLY CALLING COLORADO HOME

Born and raised in Long Island, New York, Dan is an East Coaster who went to school at UVA and then pursued his first engineering job in Philadelphia and Washington D.C. That’s where he met his girlfriend, whom he followed to San Francisco for a chapter of life on the West Coast.

The pandemic helped the couple realize that a big coastal city wasn’t where they ultimately wanted to take root. They set their sights on Denver, where they have some family and lots of fond outdoor travel memories. Now, four months after their move, they’re enamored with their Denver Highlands neighborhood home.

“I love the growth that’s going on, and all the unique neighborhoods, each with its own sort of Main Street and personality.” In three words, Dan describes Denver as “majestic, peaceful, and full of opportunities.”
